Around the house

Adelaide has officially taken over the former "man room". Grant seems to think that he will get his room back as soon as he is home again, but I'm thinking that's a fat chance.
Here are a couple of pictures of Adelaide's new play mat and her playing on her new scooter.

4th of July

It's amazing how people always laugh about banking hours, but somehow I was one of the few that had to work on July 3rd. So while I was sitting in the office getting my overhead lighting tan, Grant and Adelaide were at home enjoying the day off.
On Saturday we stuck close to home during the day and then later that evening our favorite neighbors came over for a laid back cookout which really turned into an evening of fireworks.

Selvatica

Kari, Andrew, Grant and I found ourselves looking for a little adventure while in the middle of the jungle in Mexico. We had a great time zip lining on 12 different lines, testing out segways and jumping into a cenote. Unfortunately we couldn't take pictures while zip lining, but I can tell you that there were moments of puking (New-New), hanging upside down, flying like superman and of course a few minor injuries.
I 'm pretty sure Grant had to best time while we were at the cenote(natural sinkhole, very clean water) There were two ways to enter, either by jumping in from the cliff or from a zipline.

golfing in Cancun

What would a vacation be if the guys didn't have leisurely afternoons of golf? No worries, they didn't have to find out this trip either.

On the beach

Now the real reason we flew all the way to Mexico instead of driving thirty minutes to the beach. What could be better than turquoise water and a little orange flag to flag a waitress down for a food or drink. The temperature of the water was perfect and the chairs were plentiful. There weren't a lot of people in Mexico, I'm assuming that all of the America's that typically would have been there are either too scared to spend the money right now or still have lingering fear of swine flu.

By the pool

The resort has a great pool that had some areas of shade and some areas of sun which was great for everyone. By the end of the week Adelaide got more adventurous and started jumping off of the low edge of the pool. Face in the water and everything she thought it was the funniest thing, which also made Grant extremely nervous.
Of course the other thing to be mentioned was that the pool side waitresses gave us orange flags to wave anytime we needed ANYTHING, why can't I get that to work at my pool.

Cancun part 1

Cancun was supposed to be an easy place to get to on June 20th, but that didn't end up being the case. Grant, Adelaide, Mom, Russ and I drove down to Orlando early Saturday morning for a direct flight to Cancun, which would have had us there a little after 11:00 in the morning. Kari, Andrew, Stephenie and Anthony were fortunate enough not to get up so early and were going to meet us at the airport. Everyone gets there everything goes fine after a long check in process we get on the plane on time and off we go. About 40 minutes into our flight, which we were closer to Cancun than Orlando the pilot comes onto to make an announcement, "folks, we have an error light issue and we are going to have to turn the plane around because the problem can not be fixed in Mexico, but don't worry we'll be in the air again soon". So we get off the plane, they give us meal vouchers and say be back fast, because we are reboarding in 45 minutes. So we all run to grab lunch and get back to wait. After another gate change and 5 hours later it was determined that we would not be flying out on Saturday, but they could get us on a flight at 6:00am through Atlanta to Cancun. Long story short we stayed in a Hilton Garden Inn that night and eventually got our destination the next morning, and no they didn't refund our money for the flight or anything.

Transportation that had been rescheduled was there to pick us up as promised, though they didn't realize just how much luggage 8 adults and one baby would bring including golfclubs so they had to repack the car again in order to get us to the hotel. The hotel which was a part of our timeshare was even better than expected. We had a 3 bedroom on the first floor overlooking the beach and Mom and Russ had a one bedroom overlooking the pool (though that is the second room they were in and is their story to tell).
