We are very fortunate that Adelaide has always been a good sleeper. Granted there have been bumps in the road, but for the most part neither Grant or I have been lacking sleep in the last few years. A few months ago Adelaide started fighting us when it was bed time and we weren't understanding. She was screaming, crying and waking up in the middle of the night. Yes, we have kept her in a crib because she never fought or tried to climb out. Finally Grant and I agreed we had to do something which meant trying out the Big Girl Bed. Long story short...she has never looked back at the crib. We didn't do the toddler bed or the twin, we skipped right on to the full size and she loves it. Each night we listen to her talk her self to sleep and in the morning she starts yelling for us to come and get her. I wake up in the morning to "good morning mommy, wake up, I have to potty, wake up time for school, etc". Oh and don't let the potty comment fool you-she is still a diaper wearer at night and I don't see that changing for awhile.
| Loving her new bed and especially since Daddy usually takes naps with her on the weekends. |
| You have to look close, but she is in there somewhere. |
The great thing about this post is it makes me happy to have achieved 1 of my 2 goals I set before the new baby entered this house - Adelaide out of her bed and not caring about her crib anymore. Adelaide's feeling on the bed is that it is the baby's and she will occasionally look in there and say "ssshhhh baby sleeping".
Goal 2 which I MUST achieve in less than 2 months is NO MORE DIAPERS!! I'm not worried about the one bed time diaper, but we are currently wearing panties, pull ups and diapers at any given point of the day. Hopefully when I am home full time in a few weeks we will get the potty training under control. More on that subject later.
