Not even cowbells

What kind of New Year would it be if we didn't ring it in with a Bowl Game?  This year I'd like to say that Adelaide saw Mississippi and Michigan, but as you will see in the pictures she was sleeping for the first part of the game.
In true two year old fashion she fell asleep about 5 minutes from the stadium.  Thankfully Mom had provided parking passes that were only about 5 spots away from the Touchdown club entrance so I scooped her up and in we went.  If you have ever been to a Mississippi game you know that they ring their cowbells at nausium, good thing A is a good sleeper.
I can't say that I cared much about the game, but we did make sure to text the Bull family as they are Michigan fans and when and if Michigan ever comes back to Jacksonville we will be putting some heavy pressure on Em and Bull to come down for a long weekend of play.

Month 4

Wow, month 4 is already here. When I was pregnant with Adelaide at this point I was cutting out magazine pictures for the nursery, browsing the shelves at Babies R Us, excited to read What to Expect When Your Expecting every night and was badgering Grant with name options. What have I done this go around...nothing. I haven't read the books at night because as soon as A goes to bed, I am right behind her on the way to my bed. Nursery ideas are up in the air right now, because we won't know if we are getting a baby girl or boy until later this week. If you ask A, she'll tell you she is getting a bruddasista. Of course either way Grant doesn't want to spend a bunch of money on decor considering my current state of job limbo.  Of course more info on the job as soon as it is available.

What I have done is made it to all of my doctors appointments which have meant reporting a rapid weight gain which is no surprise considering I gained 65 pounds with A.  I swear this time I'm not eating as much, I chase A all over the place and I'm trying to be a little healthier and yet I am still an enormous size.

I am going to allow this to turn into a sob story for once paragraph or ten.  This pregnancy is nothing like A, with A I was fat, dumb and happy - not a pain or occurrence of heartburn to speak of.  This baby who we have blessed with the name Booger has caused me some pretty uncomfortable moments already.  I won't go into graphic detail, but Grant can attest to my whining and discomfort that I am getting from Booger and passing on to him.

Ok, so what is exciting is that we are going to find out if it is a pink of blue Booger in just two days.  In the mean time I have put up a fun little poll to find out what everyones vote is.  As of now seven people have voted and the votes were all for boys.  We don't care either way, we just hope for another baby just as perfect as our little A.

Christmas...the rest of the story

After the house cleared out from gift extravaganza we had some time to play, shower and then head over to Ya-Ya and Grr's house for some more festivities.  Of course why would the gift giving and celebrating stop there?  Each year at the holidays we always invite a family to what we call the Orphan Club.  This family seems to attract the newly relocated to Jacksonville or those that have family that live somewhere else.  This year was no exception, we had the Jacobs family with us as their family is in the Netherlands.

Adelaide on her new ride from Ya-Ya and Gramps.  Just so that it is clear, this car lives at their house, not mine.
After all of the excitement died down, A took a little time to color at her new desk with her new Mickey.

Another holiday season has come and gone and it already feels like a decade ago.  Next year we will have a new member of the family!

Christmas morning for all

For the first time in the dozen years that Grant and I have been together, we woke up in our own house on Christmas morning. I don't mean because this is the first year we have owned a home, because reality is that we bought our first house in December of 2003. Every year we are at either our parents or on vacation, but this year we decided to mix it up. Everyone was in our living room by 7:30 on Christmas morning.

Bright and early before the sun had come up, crazy enough you can't see all of the gifts stuffed under the desk and these weren't all of them. Oh and that isn't a short tree, just gifts stacked high - this tree is over nine feet of glitter and sparkle.
After Adelaide woke up we kept her sequestered to her room and then in her high chair for a pre gift opening snack while everyone got situated. This is my favorite photo of her seeing all of the gifts for the first time.
If you look very close you will see a smiling A sitting amongst the gifts.

The boys in their matching Pjs and matching gifts.

We needed a little break...
Yes, we make everyone wear matching Christmas PJs and you may notice that I don't match anyone. That's because we couldn't find the last pair that I was sure I had bought. We will say that I had on a different PJ set because I was the only representing 1.5 people.
*Update-the PJs I was sure that I had purchased were found a month later behind the washing machine, they must have been on top and got pushed over.

Christmas morning was a huge success, these were just photos from the morning, more to come for the rest of the day.

A Christmas Eve Surprise

The good and the bad about working for a bank...the so called bankers hours. While all of my family was at home baking cookies and singing Christmas Carols I was at work. Oh well, lets skip to the fun parts of the day, we did get a few hours off of work on Friday afternoon and I got home just in time to find A and GG baking cookies for Santa.

Do you think she was having fun or what?!
My chef Grant was hanging around the stove when not wrapping his whopper of a gift. Christmas Eve had a new twist this year; 1.It was at our house, 2.It was Italian night, 3.We threw in a few games too.

The following pictures are going to need a little explanation. We bought everyone Christmas PJs, so we had everyone gather around to take one group shot, no big deal right...
On the count of 3 say Merry Christmas...
Now everyone say...Adelaide is going to be a big sister (Grant was also holding up sonogram pictures behind my head)...
Reactions...
boys - HUH?
Mom, Kari, Steph - got it
Grandma - Why is everyone yelling?
Adelaide - I'm clapping, but I don't know why.
OK NOW we all get it.

So we have now had dinner, made our surprise announcement, it is time for the games to begin.
Russ-master of the crap
A-a complete distraction to all.

Last but not least to have to leave cookies and milk for Santa.
Too bad for Santa A had to taste test everything.

Time to load some of the gifts into the house, just a few of Santa's helpers.

A little break

I have intentionally taken a break from blogging for multiple reasons, but the main one is that drum roll please...I'm pregnant again. SO this meant avoiding posting pictures of myself (yes the pregnancy bump is already there), not talking in too much detail about family events, time spent in doctors offices and of course trying to find the energy after working all day and spending time with A at night made blogging easier to skip for a few weeks. Now that the second trimester switch has been made, my work load will soon start to lighten up because I won't be covering for anyone, we are recovering from a relaxing vacation and the big announcement has been made I can start blogging again.

I do have a lot to catch up on gasbarrosweare.blogspot.com in the next week or so. Hopefully this will all happen as I also catch up on all of the tv I missed last week, yes I am a tv junky and am very excited to see everything that I missed. From 8:00 until I can't possibly stay awake anymore...approximately 9:15 it is my time with my happy tv friends.

No worries, baby info will be in the next post. I'll leave you with this...August 1st and there is only 1.
