Since we made the great move three miles down HWY 17 and now live around the corner from the folks house we did change up the holiday a little bit. Instead of spending an entire day at one house and eating a ridiculous amount in one sitting we decided to split things up. We did this to help take some of the work off of the folks and because we wanted to be able to spend time in our house too. The kids stayed at our house and out of the way of the "real" cooking while we did the prep for the Harbor Lake courses which were starters and dessert. No one trusts us with the real food and I don't blame them.
Everything was relaxed, no table settings or assigned seats just find a spot and eat a lot. I do have to say we managed to break out the china for the first time in FOREVER. Everyone played in the yard, drank a few glasses of wine and we took some family pictures too.
After everyone was done eating everyone headed across the golf course to the Adam house. Grant and I hung back for a little bit to clean up and let the girls take a nap, but as soon as they woke up we were on our way too.
Grr and YaYa were cooking up a feast even if that meant that some little people weren't happy about now being able to play with the food or the cooks. All was worth it when it was time to sit at the table. We had all of the typical Thanksgiving foods that the Adam family serves each year and as tradition goes it was delicious. The one thing that we skipped this year was going around the table saying what we were thankful for. It always ends up in a sob fest so we tried something new which you will learn about later in the evening.
Another meal in the books and we were off to get dessert ready for everyone. Adelaide stayed behind to play while we once again Grant and I headed across the course with little P. The desserts were fun, but the best part was playing games, chasing a turkey, opening a few gifts and finally getting to all of those things that we were thankful for. This evening was all about the guessing games. Earlier in the day everyone wrote two things that they were thankful for without singing their name. Those papers were then rolled up and put into the turkey leaves which we then guessed who wrote it. There were tear jerkers, laughs and a few that stumped people.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
